When the two cultures fit, it just works

This month, we had the opportunity to travel to Brisbane from the Philippines to meet up with our partner Biarri. This was our first meet up since starting work at Sharesource for Biarri in June 2019. They had intended to have an annual strategy meeting with the entire project team including us, but this hasn’t happened because of COVID. So, meeting up in person has been great and has helped cement an already terrific team partnership.

The annual catch up is a strategy meeting for the entire company to contribute and align with the direction and targets for the following year. We discussed business metrics and reviewed our strategies. We also had an opportunity for some social time together which included mini golf.

Being able to socialise with the team in Brisbane was great because we haven’t been able to do that before, and it has helped us to get to know each other better. Even though we communicate well online, there is quite a difference when you meet someone in the flesh. This has been a really great experience for us.

It was also great to know that the team relationship built over three years is a ‘real’ one. In that the level of openness and friendliness, we have always had with the Australian team was still there when we met up When we go back working remotely, we will have a better relationship because of having spent this time together.

A mark of how well we work as members of the team, we also had a catch up with one of their partners to celebrate something we had achieved for them. This was really nice of them and something that was special for us.

When we started with Biarri, we were a part of their graduate program. There was much to learn, and we had to upskill ourselves. Since then, we have been given increased responsibility working on individual projects and grown in our skills and confidence.

We really appreciate getting opportunities to work with an Australian company. We also like being a part of Sharesource because they have provided the behind-the-scenes support that we needed when we first started and continue to benefit from. In a way, we have two families: our partner Biarri - who are our technical project family and Sharesource - who are our support family. By Sharesource providing us with personal skills training as well as mentoring and coaching, we can do our work with Biarri much better. It is quite seamless really.

We feel very lucky having this opportunity to visit Brisbane and to spend time with the Biarri team. It really makes us feel appreciated.

Thank you Biarri and thank you Sharesource!
