I always knew that one day I was going to find the perfect company to build the perfect team with. ‘Perfect company’? One which offered great opportunities, an awesome culture, excellent coaching and super-smart and collaborative teammates. ‘Perfect team’? The best graduates from Vietnam’s top universities, excellent communication skills, a hunger to learn and grow and perhaps international work experience. The most elite talent available basically. Who knew that the opportunity I’d been waiting for would come along at the height of the pandemic in late 2020?! 

A little over a year ago Sharesource and I found each other and I was tasked, virtually single-handedly, with setting up their newest hub in Ho Chi Minh City. I grabbed the opportunity with both hands - what’s not to love about such a meaningful challenge? I took control of pretty much everything - the legalities, strategy, planning, product, marketing, technology, financials - and of course finding the best talent there was to find. I dived passionately and headfirst into creating the dream I’d always had, receiving a lot of support along the way from colleagues, my professional network and friends.

What am I most proud of over the year that our Vietnam hub has been open? Without a doubt the ‘dream team’ we’ve built! Just myself a year ago to almost 30 team members currently is pretty good going. And they really have turned out to be the most elite talent available - ticking many or all of the boxes I’d always aspired to. I’m loving watching them grow into even better versions of their already awesome selves. A huge factor in enabling this is being able to offer such a global, diverse, and supportive culture, where both career and personal growth are actively championed. If each team member can be considered a dot, Sharesource does a fantastic job of connecting the dots to build a sustainable team with long-term opportunities.

My team and I love how much we’re learning about different cultures through our close collaboration with our global hubs and partners. From the informal, transparent and proactive nature of the Aussies to the super-supportive, friendly and caring nature of our Filipino colleagues, to showcasing the Vietnamese propensity for quick learning and fast results, it’s a collaborative and three-way journey to all becoming the best we can be. What’s driven me the most is the human impact we’re making - adding value to businesses, growing future leaders and impacting communities. And it’s not over yet. With my dream team behind me, we’re sailing ahead with passion and purpose, continuing to change lives for the better!
