Sharesource provides gender diversity

Sharesource provides gender diversity, inclusivity, and an empowering culture for women in Tech.

According to Women In Tech.co.uk, a site dedicated to women already in or looking to start their career in the IT and Tech sector, women are significantly under-represented in this field with only 19% (or 1 in 6) females working in the tech sector.

Sharesource has consistently shown that women don’t have to accept ‘second place’ in the Tech arena providing a diverse and inclusive environment where women are equally represented.

Precious Zara-Dominguez and Camille Joy Leong, Sharesource's team members, are aware of the gender issues related to the numbers of women represented in tech in countries such as the UK, they count themselves as lucky that in the Philippines women are well represented when it comes to tech engineering positions. Now working at Sharesource based in the Philippines, Precious and Camille both work in the GIS space for companies in Australia. Precious is a GIS analyst, while Camille works in the engineering/GIS space.

They shared their own experiences as women in Tech

Precious explains that she obtained a Master of Science in Natural Resources Conservation and is involved in processing and analysing multispectral and hyperspectral imageries - as well as LiDAR data for agriculture and carbon projects.

Leong agrees mostly with Precious’ views and experiences across her studies and work although she has faced some issues when dealing with her peers from developed countries.

The good news for Sharesource is that with an equal representation of women and men coming out of the universities in the Philippines and Vietnam; it’s easier to find the right person with the tech skills and experience to add to their global teams whilst maintaining diversity, inclusiveness and a culture that equally empowers both women and men.
